Chris Eaton, MA, LPC
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at Tyler.
The majority of my experience has been helping people like you, from adolescence to late adulthood, maximize your strengths and find opportunities to make the changes you want in your life.
I have extensive experience working with people who have different needs and abilities. Whether you have medical/physical limitations, cognitive differences, or you're just struggling to find your place in this world, I'm here to help you.
I learned early on that there is no 'one-size its all' approach to successful therapy. The most effective counselors are flexible, intuitive and able to go off script in order to meet you where you need us to be.
I've been trained in many modalities of counseling and I'm always looking for new useful tools to integrate into my approach.
Some of the techniques I often use come from:
Solution Focused Therapy
Positive Psychology
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Client Centered Therapy
Mindfulness
Polyvagal Theory
Motivational Interviewing
One of my favorite things about doing teletherapy is that my clients get to talk to me on their own terms, in their own space, comfortably. In order to build strong relationships, I try my best to be as genuine and authentic with my clients as possible. My style is conversational, empowering, sometimes challenging, but most of all accepting. Feel free to use whatever language you are most comfortable with. My ears have probably heard worse. The most important thing is that you are able to discover at least one place where it's safe to express yourself fully. That's literally 80% of my job.
The absolute number one best way to predict success in therapy is the counselor-client relationship. No matter what therapeutic techniques we use, our relationship is the most important part of this process. With that in mind, I always welcome feedback, questions, or any type of info that helps me understand how to better help you. I really do look forward to talking and getting to know you.
